Glass Pebble Magnets

I’m sure I’m not the first to post about making magnets. There are gorgeous versions of these on etsy and lots of other places in blogland. But my husband and I teach a primary class (10-12 year-olds) at church and this idea fit in really well with our lesson. So we made them for the class. They also make a simple fun gift. (For other primary teachers: We were on lesson 40 and thought the magnets would make a more permanent visual than just giving them a couple of clear stones.)
These are really easy to make if you have the right adhesive. I just printed out the word on the computer and cut them apart. We adhered the top side of the paper to the bottom of the large clear glass pebble. I use Stampin‘ Ups’ Crystal Effects, which works beautifully. (Please comment if you know of other adhesives that work well for this project.) Trim the paper around the pebble and attach a magnet. I happened to have a roll of adhesive magnets that we cut and applied. The round magnets you can buy at the craft store look and work even better.
You could use scrapbook paper, make personalized names or monograms, mini sillouhete magnets would be awesome. Really the imagination is the limit! For another cool version of decorative magnets, see this post!

  4. What a timely post. I’m in charge of an adult craft for a meeting and this looks like a good one. Everyone uses magnets on the refrigerator!

  5. Great idea! Even better sine I have everything to make them already!

  6. Those are fun. A friend made them for me about 3 years ago (she was way ahead of her time), and I’ve of course lost all of them in the meantime.

This will be a great idea for my MOPS group. Thanks!

  8. I made these for a Relief Society lesson as well! Great minds think alike. 🙂 I use Mod Podge to adhere them. Works great because it dries clear too.

  9. I’ve had this project on the back burner for awhile, but I really think I might do this for some Christmas gifts. Thanks for the reminder!

I like the idea of using simple words in this project. I made some a few years ago for my MIL for Christmas. I had a picture of each grandkid’s face and trimmed the picture to fit. They turned out great and she is able to keep them all on the fridge.

I made these last year for my niece for Christmas using American Girl Faces from their catalog.. and I used plain old elmers glue and it worked wonderfully.. then I backed them with some felt.. and then glued on the magnets….
