Door Dilemma Solved—and other painting projects

…we interrupt the Girls Camp Craft report to make a special announcement….The front door has been painted!…

When we bought our house, more than a year ago, we knew something would have to be done about the door. When it was painted the first time, the hardware must have already been in place. When it was changed out during the foreclosure process, it was replaced with a lock that didn’t fit the pattern on the top. When we moved in, we replaced the whole lock and handle so that they would match, but ended up with more unpainted door showing through. Painting this door has been on my to do soon list, this whole year. I debated on color for a while, but finally went with Behr’s Deep Cherrywood, wanting red, but a natural looking color that would blend with the stones on front of the house. (The jury is still out on whether it is a brownish red or a reddish brown)

I really like the warmth it brings to the house. I have to thank BSB for being willing to get up early before the thermostat hit 110 to paint and let the door dry. He wanted to put it off until cooler weather, but this came in the mail, and I just didn’t want it to get ruined sitting around waiting for us to get around to painting…

Remember when Chris @ Just a Girl had this vinyl giveaway and like 500 people entered and I won. Shelley @ Wonderfully Wordy sent me these cool numbers in a cream color (I thought it would work better with my exterior than bright white.) So I really have to thank Chris and Shelley for giving us the motivation to check one more project off of the list.

Now, I just need to touch up the trim, clean the patio, power-wash the windows, replace the doormat, get a swing or other furniture for the porch, paint the railing to the porch, etc., etc., etc….

And in other painting news, here is a sneak peek of the other project I have been working on. Sadly, it is not for one of my kids’ rooms, but for my nephew who hasn’t moved into his new house, yet. I will post pictures of the whole room when we get it done.

…and now back to the Girls Camp Report already in progress…I’m adding this post to Kimba’s DIY Thursday tomorrow, since I couldn’t get it done in time to add to her outdoor party…

Love it! I just won a vinyl house # give a way over at the DIY Showoff and it is the kick in the hiney I needed to get my doors in shape too.
I have steel doors, and unless we replace those (I'd love to), but we probably won't be doing that so I need to decide on color.
I really like your color. I love Behr paint! My wheels are spinning.
