Spa Day Birthday Party — Nail Polish Invitations

It’s about time I share the pictures from my daughter’s Perfect 10 Day Spa Birthday party, a couple of weeks ago. I’m going to have to break it down into small parts (since there were so many details) if I am going to get through it, though! We’ll start with the invitations today!
If you haven’t noticed, I like invitations that are somewhat 3D (robot, Nancy Drew book, rocket, etc.). This time we went with sparkley nail-polish bottle invitations that have a lid that can be taken off.
I cut the basic bottle shape out of folded card-stock. A corner-rounder helped make my basic shape look a little more professional. The fold is at the bottom and then I used glue dots to seal up the sides.
I designed the label to resemble O.P.I brand nail polish. It took a little bit to figure out how to get all of the necessary info on the label and still make it look like a label instead of a wordy invitation. I decided to name the day spa, “Perfect 10” since she was turning 10. (Fonts used here are Wendy Medium and Tw Cen MT). I printed these on address labels, but they didn’t end up sticking really well to the coated cardstock, so I used clear packing tape on some to hold it all together.
I used Q-tips inside of the white cardstock lids to make the nail polish brush. You see here I’m using double-sided sticky foam. I added some scraps cardstock over the tip to look like the brush had polish on it.

The message wrapped around the brush says “To confirm your appointment please call: xxx-xxx-xxxx”
There were four colors of card stock that fit with our color scheme, so we used all of them. We hand-delivered most of these in these clear envelopes. Since the personal info was visible, I used opaque envelopes for the ones I mailed.
The girls were really excited about these! Stay tuned for the rest of the party details to be revealed over the next week or two.
The thought did occur to me, that this could make an awesome Mother’s Day party, if you ever want to spoil a group of deserving friends or family members. All of the ladies involved in this party said that they wanted a party like this. I know I’d love it if some one threw a spa day for me!

  15. I do love the nail polish in I do love the nail polish in love the nail polish invitation idea!! My daughter is turning 11 next month and she having a day at the nail salon with her girlfriends.
I thought this invitation would be PERFECT for us to make for her friends. Do you have the template that you’re willing to share? Thank you!! This is a wonderful idea!!

    • Thanks Cristina! Are you looking for a template for the shape of the bottle, or something for the Graphics? I don’t have anything ready at the moment to share. I just made a template by sketching a basic shape on on piece of card stock and tracing it on the others. Let me know what you are looking for, and if I get a chance, I’ll dig up an old invitation and see if I can create a template.

      • I would love just to have the size of the bottle. The graphics I can do with a certain font in word. I just wasn’t sure how to shape the nail polish bottle. My daughter is so excited to make this and hand out to her girlfriends. Thank you so much!!

  16. I’m sorry I also forgot to ask where did you buy that type of card stock. I think that type of card stock really made the invitations stand out and LOOK GREAT!! 🙂

  17. I would LOVE to have the word document you used for the labels. We had already decided on a Perfect 10 party at the local nail salon for my daughter’s 10th birthday in March. I am having trouble getting fonts and sizes right so I can read them AND get them to fit onto a label. Do you mind sharing?

  18. Do you have a template for the nail polish bottle you can send? It is so cute!!!!

  19. Yes, please do share. My daughter loves these and her 10th birthday is coming up.

  20. VERY CUTE idea!! I just started to look for ideas for invitations and found yours. I would like to use the nail polish invitation idea for my daughters party next month. What size was the invite? Were you able to dig up a template that I can use for the bottle and / or the Word document for the label?
    Thank you so much!

  21. What type of cardstock is this? this doesn’t look like normal textured card stock. Thanks

    • It was from a stack of textured cardstock I bought at the craft store. I don’t remember the brand: Bazzill Basics, maybe? The texture shouldn’t really matter. Just pick something you like. Maybe a sparkly cardstock would be fun!

  22. I’m planning my 2 daughters spa bday parties, and I’m so glad I saw your idea it so so cute, I would like to copy it, do you have a template or a word document that i could use? if you don’t mind to share it?
