Easterfeels like it is coming fast this year. Everything feels like it is coming fast this year, including baby #4. But I thought I would give you a heads-up for Easter, incase you are planning on growing your own wheat-grass this year. It’s about that time!
Last year, I hosted an Easter family dinner, and adorned our table with lots of wheat grass. It wasn’t terribly difficult to grow, and really made a statement at the table! I blogged about it here.
In keeping with a more REAL feel to Easter (no plastic eggs, fake grass, etc.), we also attempted dyeing our eggs with natural dyes (there are links to my resources on natural dyes in this post).
I will confess that we added some coloring to the mix, since we just didn’t have enough patience for the natural dyes to do their work, but they made some fun earthy looking patterns anyway.I planning to host Easter again this year, and plan to pair the wheat grass with a few fun bold colors (we’ll see if I can realize my vision and blog about it). If you have wheat on hand, I challenge you to give it a shot (Here is what I learned about it from last year). I have seen others grow it in baskets and lots of random containers. Nothing says spring like fresh grass!

ooo i'm loving these ideas! and seriously easter is coming so fast!! here in pa the snow just melted…and now suddenly the stores are stocked for easter..bunnies everywhere!! which is my daughter's favorite word. i can't wait to look over your site for more easter inspiration. i'm not hosting anything this year but i want to do decorations up more since my sophia gets it more this year! sorry for the novel post!!
I'm lovin' this. I have a bunch of bulbs in my garage that didn't get planted in the fall that are sprouting anyway. I think I might put them in random containers and bring them indoors. I'm sure my kids will have fun collecting rocks to go in the bottom of the jars.
The wheat grass with the eggs is absolutely divine! What a simple way to create that WOW factor at the dinner table! Thanks for this fabulous idea.

I have never even heard of wheat grass but I sure like what I see. I would guess that if I kept watering it ( which is a big if ) that it would keep most of the summer. I'm am envisioning all kinds of fun ideas here.
