Erin (the one who is throwing the hunting party) sent me a copy of the invitation she made to post. (Erin, I am assuming your husband doesn’t read this blog, since this is a surprise party). Anyway, I love the hunting terms “you’ve been drawn.” She made the invitation digitally using design elements from one…
I was recently asked by a reader to re-create this Nancy Drew invitation for her daughter’s birthday. I originally designed this invitation for my daughter’s 7th birthday and posted about it here. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this request from a reader. I’ve done 4 or 5 of these invitations for little aspiring sleuths and…
My daughter (who has a thing for hair) was heart-set on a Rapunzel birthday. Using some great internet resources, a bit of imagination, and a lot of friends and family, we threw a Tangled adventure for the birthday girl and her friends. Where to begin? How about with my little Rapunzel herself and the gorgeous…
In just a little more than a week’s time, my oldest turned 10 and my youngest turned 1. I think I’m in a little bit of denial. How is it possible that I have a 10 year old? And how come my baby is starting to look like a little boy? Of course, I have…
I’ve been teasing about this event for a couple of months, but I finally got some pictures and can show you the ice cream party we threw for the kids at our church on a teeny-tiny budget, and what possessed me to spray paint a plastic tablecloth. I currently work as a leader in…

I Love The Way You Did The Flower With The Words Going Around, How Exactly Did You Do That Because I Am Really Interested In Doing It For My Own Baby Shower !
Designing the flowers the way I did with the text going around, can be kind of tricky. You have to have the right kind of software (like photoshop) that uses layers and then you’d create a text path around the shape of the flower. It would be difficult to tell you exactly how to do it, since I don’t know what software you have and it took me a bit of trial and error to get it right.
You might just google “creating a text path” and the name of the software you use. Also, I think it may have helped that the flower was a vector image I was able to “draw” and attach text to. It’s honestly been so long and I have different software now. Not sure I could do a tutorial on it.
Good luck!
you can use picnik
I love this theme! My shower is 2 mths. away so I have lots of time to focus on it! Thanks for the invitation templates. I’m trying to get to the ‘soda pop’ labels, but the site is not cooperating 🙁 Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for the idea, I was wondering how you mailed these? They don’t look like they will fit in a regular envelope. Or did you pass them out by hand?
I think they hand delivered most of them. If you are putting them around the tootsie pop that would be easiest, or I think you could fold the petals up and put them in a small mailing tube.
I LOVE THIS IDEA! I would love to do this for the two showers I am planning. I don’t see how I can download your cute flower.
Can you help me? Or is this part of your awesome secret to keep? 😉
Hi Lisa!
No Secret. To download, right click on the image you want and click “save as.” Save the file to your computer and pull it up in some kind of graphics or word processing program to print. They are just in a picture format at this time, but should work fine.
I hope both of your showers are big hits!
