Organize your Gardening

Spring is Springing! Is it planting season where you are? It is here in Phoenix, though we haven’t planted anything yet.

Katherine is helping you get organized in the garden with some pretty printable garden labels! Free and easy! That’s the best kind of organizational tool–especially when they look this nice!

Hi there! Like all you My Insanity fans, I am constantly looking for ways to clean up the clutter (by the way, the “I” there is me, Katherine from The Side Stuff ). When I moved into a new house last year, there was a terrible eyesore of a shed in the backyard. After tearing it down, my husband and I replaced it with two large vegetable boxes, something that I’d admired in so many California gardens. What could be better than heading to your backyard for dinner?

However, I’m in no way a gardener and have no interest in investing real time in turning dirt into edibles. So, I basically just dropped in some seeds and waited to see what would happen. Amazingly enough, the first attempt succeeded pretty darn well, and we have a growing crop (with our first little radish harvest this week!).

I also realized that I was having trouble remembering what had gone where, so before things totally turned into a pile of green, I made these little labels. Why the plum on every one? Our garden sits under a plum tree.

Interested in adding some to your garden? Just download these freebie PDFs of the veggies you want (click the PDF links below). Then pick up some wooden stirrers at the coffee shop or paint mixers at the hardware store, cut out, fold over and use packing tape to create a nice water proof seal. Easy peasy. If only I could guarantee they’d help your garden grow…

Basil, beans and beets

Bell peppers, broccoli and carrots

Cauliflower, cilantro and green onions

Lettuce, mint and oregano

Parsley, peas and radishes

Squash, tomatoes and zucchini

  1. Those “…is trying to grow here” labels are so fun!

  2. Currently experiencing garden envy! Our balcony is just a touch too small for this I think, but it looks SO amazing. My gardening goal this year is to grow more edibles and really work them into our summer meals! Here’s to hoping for sunshine so my veggies will grow! Great post 🙂 Thanks -Kate
