Feeling Fall — Repost from Sept. ’09

I’m re-running this post from last September, because, I am going to submit the pumpkins and the baby shower to the CSI Fall-themed contest this week (plus a couple of other old-but-good pumpkin projects–here & here).  Speaking of CSI, both my robot school treats and my back to school luncheon made the top ten last week!  Yea!

I’m busy working on the Robot party today (can’t wait to show you the invitations), and recovering from a killer migraine last night.  I hope you are enjoying a taste of autumn in your neck of the woods!

Yesterday morning, I stepped outside my front door, and for the first time in months, the air felt cool. Not cool, by most of your standards, but refreshing and crisp, and several degrees cooler than the temperature inside the house (82 degrees). If you don’t live in an inferno like Arizona, you may not be able to understand the marvelous feeling that occurs when the weather starts to cool down ever-so-slightly, and hope returns that this will be a pleasant place to hang out for the next few months. It makes me want to spruce up my outdoor spaces, so we can spend more time there, and it actually FEELS appropriate to start blogging about all things fall. (We just try and forget that we are still at or near triple digits during the day).
For the story behind my “Welcome pumpkins” pictured above, go here.
If you are throwing a baby shower with in the next couple of months. You might want to consider my “‘Lil Pumpkin” theme explained in more detail, here.

And for a yummy fall breakfast, you’ve got to try my friend, Trish’s Pumpkin Waffles with Buttermilk syrup. My write-up is here. Her recipe is here.
What gets you in the mood for fall? Any favorite fall recipes or rituals?

  1. LOVE those welcome pumpkins. I'm trying to think of a place I could put them. I know what you mean about the weather. I couldn't imagine living in a place with no seasonal change! I live in SC and so it is slowly changing over, but Mother Nature sure is taking her time! 🙂
