    congrats!

  2. I read every Nancy Drew book as a girl, of course I have no girls and four boys; they never wanted to read my old books!

  4. I saw this on Tip Junkie. I'm going to bookmark it. My daughter is turning 10 soon and may like this idea.
She was a detective for Halloween. (I made her costume if you want to see it on my blog just go back to October 2009 in the archives.
But I love all your ideas. The cake is spectacular.

Any chance you would share your template for the invite? I am planning my nieces Nancy Drew birthday party for March…and am having trouble mocking up a book cover as nice as yours!!!! Thanks so much for your ideas & creativity!!!

I love it! What a great idea for a birthday party. I never would have thought of that. This would have been my dream party as a girl. So cool!

  7. I would love a template for the book, or some instruction on how to make it. I stopped being computer savvy after I had the babies and I have’nt gotten my MoJo back yet 🙂

    • The invitation, right? Unfortunately, I can’t really share a template or a detailed tutorial because everyone uses different software, and it was fairly in-depth adding all of the details to the book. The best I can offer is to insert your photo in to my design and customize it for you. To create something similar, you need a program that works with layers. At minimum something like Microsoft Publisher. Better would be a program like Adobe Photoshop (I use Paint Shop Pro by Corel). I tweak the photos quite a bit in a photo editing software to make them look more like artwork, then I put them as the front of the book cover, I really just looked at an actual book and tried to choose fonts and placement that most closely resembled that. I hope this helps.

  8. I mean the Mock Nancy Drew book, not the sleuthing notebook. Thank you! So Cute!

  9. Can I order invitations to be customized by you? If so, how long does it take?

  10. I am also a Nancy Drew Fan and I want to organize a party like this also but my friends think Nancy Drew is boring.

  11. What a wonderful party! I was looking for ideas for my daughter’s spy party and followed a link from this one http://www.instructables.com/id/1-How-to-Host-a-Spy-Party/ so glad they credited you, as your imaginative designs blew my mind! Thank you for sharing a little of your creativity with us.
