Back to School Photos…in July

I thought I should check in and let you know that we survived our 3 1/2 week road trip in Utah and California with lots of great pictures to show and stories to tell! (Don’t worry. It’s all coming!)

We are less likely to survive our first week back in reality since we came home to a freezer full of rotting food, and we had to do this on Monday after rolling into town Saturday night…

School in July??? We’ve always started back early in August, but my psyche had a hard time with the July start date this year. Everything was a little unprepared and haphazard, so rather than grab the cute chalkboards, for first day photos like last year, I used sharpie on a yellow notepad that was laying around. I think it’s pretty cute in it’s own right!

So if you haven’t made any grandiose plans for your pics on the first day of school, grab one of their note books and write the info, or better yet, let them write in their own handwriting or add some school related doodles.

Just watch out for miniature photo bombers–who wish they were going to school, too!

Be patient with me as I play catch-up and dive-in.

Have your kids started school, yet? How do you feel about our July start date? And have you ever taken your kids on a 3 1/2 week vacation?

  1. Oh my goodness! Here in Michigan we start in SEPTEMBER!! June 1 – Sept. 4 is our summer break this year. I can not even imagine starting now – yikes! We take 2 week vacations usually – never done more than that. I bet you are busy, busy, busy with laundry, cleaning and getting back into the swing of things!

Perhaps the bar has been raised when it comes to the quality of our
manicures, or maybe we’re just suckers for a little
bit of pampering every now and again. Pay attention and make sure your manicurist follows
some simple practices so you can enjoy long lasting nail polish.
It can be a great reward for them and an effective motivational return for
    you.
