I participated in Kimba’s unplugged Friday….mostly. My goal was to keep the computer off the whole day. I did remember some banking I needed to do, and since I do everything online, I had to get on for a little bit to take care of business, but I didn’t do anything blog related at all (in fact, I still have some emails to respond to). It was harder than I thought it would be, just because in the course of a typical weekday, there are so many things I do on the computer, and there is that constant pull to see if there is something new that needs my attention. I learned a few things from this exercise:
- I am TOO busy. I do too much. I’ve known this for a while and I am not sure how it is ever going to change, but I found myself staying up late working on things on the computer the night before so that I could participate in the challenge. My husband asked if that kind of defeated the purpose. He may be right, but there were things that I felt couldn’t wait. Especially since I would be gone all day Saturday. I should be able to take a day off with out it being a big deal.
- It was much easier to get my daughter to school on-time, without the computer on. I always feel like I need to check messages first thing, but it’s easy to get sucked into blogs, and then run out of time for things like…getting dressed. The lesson: I need to be more scheduled about when I am on the computer, and stick to it.
- It is easier to get more physical work done (cleaning, organizing, projects) with the computer off. I spent a bit of time in my closet working on my SPRING CLEANING PROJECTS! I will be posting about those tomorrow. Please come and share with us!
(One participant will win these gorgeous gloves!)
And this was Saturday, not Friday, but I did have to unplug to go to the workshop and learn how to do stuff like this:

What do you think about this cutie? I’ll be posting more pictures and maybe some ideas about adding texture to photos over on My Digital Insanity, soon.
