Joy to my Home!

This is what I came home to the other night after my SIL’s bridal shower:

Yes! My project, two Christmases in the making, was finally hung for all to see! (Just promise not to tell my hubby that I had a slightly different vision in mind for how the letters would hang on the ribbon. I can always do that next year, I’m just glad he finally got them hung!)
Here’s a view with a flash, in case you can’t see them clearly (Did I mention I don’t like the flash, and I try to avoid using it at all costs, so most of my pictures are blurry).
The project seemed simple enough. You’ve seen monogrammed wreaths all over blogland by now. I cut letters out of foam (trickier to find the right shape than you might think), and then realized I could have just used a wreath for the “O.” “O” well! I wrapped dollar store cheapy garland around the letters, and then gave them a much needed hair cut (yes, my husband said they looked like yeti). I have a little berry pick in each one. I had visions of having them each lit with battery powered lights, but instead I have a word to the wise: As fantastic as the dollar store is, don’t use it to buy battery-powered lights. But it is actually illuminated fairly well by the back lighting from the house. I’ll have to decide if I want to mess with the lights for next year. I can show some more pics from the process and answer questions if you have any…but maybe not until next year.
Would you believe this weekend I attended a bridal shower, threw a double birthday party, sang in the choir at church (along with the usual responsibilities of singing and teaching), and performed with my kids at a church evening of music? Not to mention other Christmas preparations.
I actually have a lot of Christmas to blog about (I can do the home tour now), two birthday parties, and wedding stuff, plus plans for my 2nd annual Blogoversary Party Party in January. But I’m not sure where blogging will make it on my to do list which includes the decorating and delivering of gingerbread cookies (they are baked!), assembly and mailing of Christmas cards that will hopefully arrive in 2009, finishing of a big Christmas present, last-minute shopping, celebrating BSB’s actual birthday, helping kids make some homemade gifts for extended family, caroling, wedding preparations (I’m doing flowers and the Hot Cocoa bar), getting my hair and my kids’ hair done in prep for pictures, etc…..
So….bear with me, if I don’t get much blogged before January. I promise lots of party posts then. Hopefully, I’ll get my home tour up before Christmas, but just in case…
I hope your Holidays are filled with JOY!
