A while back, I promised Joanna some ideas for a blue and brown nest-themed shower. Then my April happened. In the mean time, I have seen lots of great ideas, so she probably doesn’t need my help any more, but here are some ideas, anyway.
I would start with my chow mein Easter Nests or this chocolate covered version.
Use only blue eggs, and they would make great edible place cards.
For a centerpiece I would stack a couple of different sized grapevine wreaths on each other to form a large nest. Then I would paint a bunch of plastic Easter eggs a speckled blue to put inside the nest.
Divine Party Concepts just did a similar post, but called it “About to Hatch.” My favorite finds there were these favors from Beau-coup
and this invitation by tiny prints.
You could serve cupcakes that look like these ones from Martha…
…or more like my version from Easter.
Clearly adding jelly beans is easier than piping birds, but both are cute. I loved how the toasted coconut turned out. It looks natural and tastes yummy! I only wish I had found long curly coconut like the kind they used in Martha’s cupcakes.
I know we are a little past Easter, but you could do some variation on an egg hunt, such as hiding clues in plastic eggs. Or put a different question in each egg and guests have to answer the one they draw.
For decor, of course, use blues and browns, and a lot of natural elements. Small tree branches across a mantle, or in a vase would make a big impact. If you need more decor, you could go to birdcages, but those don’t work if you want to keep more of a natural feel. I’ve also seen decoupaged wooden eggs. Those could be fun if find cool patterned paper or fabric in your colors. So does that give you some ideas, Joanne?
A quick shout-out to Paula for giving me this lovely “Lovely Blog” award! Thank you!

I thought you might be interested???
It’s for Silhouettes and Aprons!
Love your ideas. Thanks so much. No you were not to late. The shower is not until the 20th of June.
I have decided to do the cupcakes from Martha Stewart.
I also got some darling invitations off of etsy as well as a banner and water bottle labels.
I also got the nests with a blue soap as take away gifts and I got little nests that I’m putting blue jordan almonds in with a name tag at each place setting.
I’ve also collected several bird/nest theme items to use.
Thanks again for your ideas. I’m sure I will use some of them.
Hugs,
Joanne
