Happy 100th Birthday, Arizona! Isn’t that what you are all celebrating today? I guess I’m not doing much for it either, except to remind you that 100 years ago, AZ got it in gear enough to complete the contiguous 48 states. Go Arizona!
But rather than Arizona flags to wave, I sent my children to school this morning with valentines. Valentines that I hope will not cause them to go into therapy in the future.
They are funny, right? And I figured I was running out of time to do these before my son would be old enough to know to refuse. (I think he thinks they’re pretty funny).
These were completely inspired by the sucker version from Funky Polkadot Giraffe.
We aren’t allowed to take anything homemade to school, and it was a lot easier to slap these foil lip chocolates from the Dollar Store on to our pictures. These were a lot easier than many school valentines we’ve put together in years past.
Poor thing doesn’t have a nose anymore.
I think these worked the best with her because she has big pouty lips anyway.
Just hoping no one punched him when he handed these out today.
We also attempted making suckers for the first time ever.
They actually weren’t as scary as I thought they would be.
My MIL had given me the lips mold from her collection and I ordered a kit from Bake It Pretty. But the recipe doesn’t look that difficult even without a kit.
It was BSB’s idea to add the sprinkles to the free form blobs we made with the rest of the candy syrup before it hardened. Fun, right? And you could do what ever sprinkles match the occasion. You can bet there will be more experiments ahead.
Before sending the kids off to school we had heart-shaped french toast this morning.
Plans for tonight? BSB has promised to make a nice dinner! I’m doing the Twinkie hearts for dessert, because that’s about all the steam I’ve got left for this holiday–and I think the kids will be in heaven.

Very cute lips! Very fun idea. I don’t know how my boys would feel about them, so I agree, you gotta do it before they get too big and have opinions!
And yes, I always go handmade. Got a little crazy this year when I had to redo one last minute and come up with a whole new plan.

I didn’t really use a template. I just opened my photo and added text on top. You can see I did it a little differently for each photo, depending on where there faces were. If you don’t have a software you like to use, I recommend uploading your photos to Picmonkey or similar websites. PicMonkey actually has a lot of fun overlay options, borders, etc., and it is really easy to use. I’m sure you could crank them out in no time. Thanks for stopping by!

It depends on if you have and use any photo editing or graphics software. I just had a little photo shoot with my kids and made sure to get very close-up pictures. I opened my photo in my software and added text on top. If you don’t have a program you are comfortable with, I recommend uploading your photos to Picmonkey.com. It has a lot of fun overlay options, borders, etc., and you can add your own text. It is quite easy to use. Save your new images to your computer and then just have them printed out like you would any photo. Then use hot glue or double sided tape to place the candy lips right on top of their real ones.
