Glittery Golden New Year’s Eve

Happy New Year!! I hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday season and lots of opportunities to celebrate with those you love!  Here’s a quick glimpse into our New Year’s Eve festivities. I’ll be posting a Christmas re-cap and my word of the year soon.

I made these sparkly numbers out of Chipboard and Christmas clearance tinsel garland for the occasion. I know it is a little hard to see in this picture, so maybe they will make it to the mantle for the rest of this month, and you will get to see them there.

These picks looked just like New Years to me, even though they were on Christmas clearance. I put them in the gold vases from Thanksgiving, and used them as our centerpiece.

We served mashtinis like the ones I blogged about last week, but this time I borrowed my neighbors fancy martini glasses, and added olives on toothpicks, just for effect.

We also made these fancy party hats mostly from dollar store supplies. I was excited to find sets of sparkly headbands at Dollar Tree. We cut a little off of the bottom of the dollar store hats and used Mod Podge to adhere the Martha Stewart glitter. By adding another coat of Mod Podge on top, we sealed the glitter on the hat. I had been dissapointed not to find any metallic garland left in the stores, but this white, snowy garland that I found at Walmart (again, Christmas clearance) worked really well to add some “party” to our sparkly hats.

I just used hot glue to attach the garland to the rim, make the little puff on the top, and glue the hat to the headband.

We had a fantastic time eating, gabbing, and playing games with friends. The kids played Just Dance for Kids on the Wii, and my favorite part of the night, may have been when the grown-ups got in on the action! So funny! The night ended with a big bang as we welcomed in the New Year with fireworks and sparkling cider!

I am grateful for a new year. For a chance to take inventory of our blessings, our lives, and set a new course, or at least make a few course corrections.

I hope your new year is blessed and as sparkling and glittery as you want it to be!
